Safe Zone 2.0: Welcome Back to Campus

The Safe Zone 2.0 program is designed to actively engage existing Safe Zone Allies in conversations that will deepen their knowledge about LGBTQ issues on campus and around the country.  

These Brown Bag style talks will be conversations lead by experts that will help facilitate continuing education for Allies on campus as we try and broaden the support for LGBTQ individuals in our community. This month we will meet & greet with Allies from various campus departments.

Queer Year 1 (QY1) is a program designed for first year students at UNC Charlotte.

QY1 is a cohort program that helps to connect LGBTQ and allied students to the queer community on campus and the larger community of Charlotte.

The program will engage students through the arts, community activism, community outreach, and connecting to campus life.

All first-year students at UNC Charlotte are welcome to attend. This first meeting is a social meet and greet with free food and giveaways.

This training is designed for undergraduate students as a way of educating them about the lived experiences of LGBTQ individuals on campus.  

Students will walk away from the training with a better sense of the lives of LGBTQ people, a list of campus resources, and the tools to become a better ally.

Carolina Conference on Queer Youth

In its fifth year, the Carolina Conference on Queer Youth is a partnership between the MRC and Time Out Youth.  

This conference is designed to bring together K-12 teachers, school counselors, middle and high School students, college students, community practitioners, and activists together to discuss a wide range of topics centered around Queer Youth identity.
