Must be able to provide service to customers inquiring about MAC computer products and accessories. Employees will have a knowledge of point of sale systems and customer service skills. Hours are typically from 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM M-F and occasional weekends. Must have a knowledge of campus layout for delivery purposes.
Responsible for providing direct customer assistance and event support within the Popp Martin Student Union. This support includes but is not limited to: room set ups according to space assignment instructions, various cleaning tasks within event spaces using environmentally safe cleaning chemicals, operating cleaning equipment such as vacuums, wiping, mopping, squeegeeing, emptying trash and assisting with minor room maintenance tasks as needed, meeting and greeting customers and guests and offering friendly and knowledgeable customer service, acting as a liaison between customers, reservations, and building services to ensure event success, resolving all customer concerns in a timely manner, ensuring all guests are comfortable and safe, and monitoring events to ensure they are conducted within the parameters of University and Student Union policies and guidelines. Employees must be able to stand for long periods of time. Some heavy lifting is required. Attention to details and good customer service skills is essential.
Address and solve customer needs and requests as they arise. Oversee building with rounds and locking/unlocking of doors. This may require early arrival and late departure from scheduled shifts. Regularly inspect outside and inside the building premises. Inspect and maintain meeting rooms (prior to and at conclusion of all events). Assists Production Teams with setups. Responsible for objective daily report of happenings. Responsible for distributing and maintaining signage. Assists at Information Center, Theater, and other areas when needed. Maintain consistency in policies and procedures. Oversee events and ensure compliance with the Student Union and University regulations. Must attend biweekly meetings with team. The Lead Building Manager assists professional staff with scheduling and staff relations.
Office, Information, & Retail Assistant (Cone Center ONLY)
Work shifts between 8am and 5pm Monday thru Friday ONLY. This wide-ranging position involves three areas of employment: reception & office assistant, Information Desk attendant, and Candy Shoppe associate. Employees rotate among these duties, all involving: serving as a first contact for all Cone Center visitors, answering phones, copying, filing, completing inventory reports, providing event information and directions, and performing cash handling operations. Customer service skills and attention to detail are imperative for success in this position.
Oversee the Art Gallery while open. Required to be knowledgable of each show that is on display. Serve as a host during art receptions and other events that may take place in the Gallery.
Loading Dock Assistants
Responsible for distributing daily deliveries, maintaining delivery databases and logbooks. Assists with the loading/unloading of trucks. Manages all traffic inbound/outbound of dock area. Prepares packages for shipment & return. Coordinates with Waste Mgmt & Recycling Services. Manages the vehicle check out system. Responsible for general upkeep and cleanliness of dock areas. Some heavy lifting may be required.
Information Center Specialists
ICSs are responsible for Union and University information; they serve as a first contact with guests in a fast paced environment. The information center is responsible for maintaining Union table check outs, and pool table equipment inventory through a database program. ICS’s are responsible for gathering and maintaining information of university and community events and resources. They are required to contact the Production Teams and Building Managers by radio at all times. Students answer phones, assist walk up guests with questions. Customer service skills are a must. This position can be found in both the Student Union and Cone University Center. If applying you will be considered for either building.
Act as receptionist, help customers complete forms/requests, run reports, help customers with policy interpretation, confirm with groups prior event, and other duties as assigned.
A/V Technicians – Special Events
Provide audiovisual and technical support for customers, campus programs and events within the Popp Martin Student Union. Technicians set up, operate, maintain, and repair audio, visual and technical equipment used to enhance the customer's experience with programs and events. This equipment includes but is not limited to: microphones, mixers, speakers, projectors, screens, lighting, televisions, amplifiers, conference phones and more. Technicians are also responsible for monitoring sound levels and enforcing amplified sound policies within the building. Technicians may conduct basic routine maintenance on all equipment and assist with inventory management of building-wide A/V equipment. Technicians must be able to stand for long periods of time and be able to transport heavy equipment. Technicians must also have a basic understanding of audiovisual, technical, multimedia, and computer systems.
